About
Arknights is a mobile tower defense (TD) game developed by Hypergryph. Originally released in mainland China (CN) on May 1, 2019, it later received a release in Japan, Korea, North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia (collectively known as Global) by Yostar on January 16, 2020, and in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau (TW) by Longcheng on June 29, 2020.
While at first it appears to be a deceptively simple TD, Arknights tends to be more difficult than the run-of-the-mill TD game due to tricky maps, enemy design, and challenging combat puzzles. One strong aspect of the game is the player's management of Operators and the correct use of their abilities to achieve victory. Arknights also features an important base building feature.
Arknights utilizes a gacha system for players to obtain Operators, however, the game designs stages to be solvable using Operators of the most common rarities. In addition, the Recruitment system permits the free, albeit rare, acquisition of most of the older high rarity Operators.
Due to the differing release dates of each version as well as other factors, the Global server of Arknights is ~6 months behind the CN server, while the TW server is ~8 months behind CN (~3 months behind Global).

Path of Life will be live on December 3, so prepare yourselves to finally get a glance on the underwater nation of Aegir after being mentioned in-passing on previous stories and experiencing the intrigue behind the surface involving the Abyssal Hunters, and pull for Ulpianus who is now finally introduced as an Operator!
After Path of Life, we'll be returning to Sanctilaminium Ambrosii in Hortus de Escapismo Rerun as well as getting stuff from the Sanrio franchise in Sweetness Overload that has been confirmed to be released in mid December, possibly together with HE Rerun, so stay focused. And rejoice, Global players: if our predictions were correct, then we will not see any event being delayed to make way for the upcoming 5th anniversary, where A Kazdelian Rescue which serves as a prologue for the fifth theme of Integrated Strategies, Sarkaz's Furnaceside Fables, would be released sometime after HE Rerun/the Sanrio collab in either late December or early January 2025, and then we can finally celebrate our 5th anniversary by going to
Sargon in Inudi Harek, Horakhet on around January 16!
- ...that A Flurry to the Flame is the only event so far which is released on the matching season of autumn (on the Northern Hemisphere) in Global?
- ...that before Il Siracusano, both an Alternate Operator and the original one cannot be present in a squad or the RIIC simultaneously?
- ...that welfare Operators always have three DP cost reductions as part of their Potential improvements, with certain exceptions?
- ...that Tachanka's Lord outfit is actually based on an existing cosmetic combination in Rainbow Six Siege?
- ...that VI-7 features no less than five bosses in one sitting, a record that not even Trials for Navigator would match?
- ...that nobody ever cleared Sal Viento Karst with the highest possible Contingency Level of 39 until it was released in the TW server?
- ...that alchemaniac somehow pulled Skadi most of the time on her headhunting pulls?
- ...that The Rides to Lake Silberneherze is the first time where the trailer has the featured Operators speak in the respective server's native languages?
Featured Operator
Ulpianus is a 6★ Crusher Guard introduced alongside the release of Path of Life; before this, he appears as a supporting character in Stultifera Navis.
The oldest and the strongest of the Abyssal Hunters, Ulpianus is a solid Crusher Guard who are capable of going above and beyond when used alongside his comrades, as one of his talents buff his ATK and DEF in each kill with other Hunters also receiving part of the effect. While he has no defenses at all, Ulpianus compensated that with his other talent which heals him each time he takes damage and becomes more effective at below 50% HP, and his assortment of skills all turn Ulpianus into an unbreakable juggernaut or allows him to do something previously impossible; relocating himself without redeploying him.
Ulpianus' Japanese CV is Daisuke Ono who is best known for voicing Jotaro Kujo, the protagonist of JoJo's Bizzare Adventure, and Sebastian Michaelis in The Black Butler; his English CV is Taylor Clarke-Hill who is best known for being the English VA of Mighty in Another Eden and Frani in Triangle Strategy.
