How Does H-E-B Curbside Work?
H-E-B Curbside lets you order groceries online to be picked up at your local store. You can order through their app or the website. A personal shopper will prepare all your items. Then, you simply text the H-E-B curbside phone number at your designated pickup time, and an employee will bring the groceries to your car.
You can order H-E-B Curbside with either the app or the website. The app is called “My H-E-B.” You will also need to create an H-E-B account to order Curbside.
Then, you can browse the departments and search for items to add to your cart. Once the order is placed, an in-store shopper will put together all your items.
When you arrive at the store, you will need to park in a designated parking spot for H-E-B Curbside. There will be signs in the parking lot to guide you to the right location.
Look for your parking spot code and text it to the H-E-B curbside phone number, 99147. Soon, an H-E-B employee will bring your groceries out to your car. You can leave your trunk open, and the employee will place the groceries directly into your car.
The H-E-B Curbside hours are 7 am-9 pm. You can schedule a pickup for a half-hour window anywhere between these hours if that time slot is available. Note that these hours may vary at select locations or during holidays.
If H-E-B Curbside does not have a product you ordered, there are two options based on what you indicated on your order. If you allow a substitution for the item, then the in-store shopper will choose an appropriate alternative.
You will be notified of this change, so you can remove the item if necessary. If you did not approve the substitution, then you will not be charged for the missing item.
For certain items that are highly popular, H-E-B offers the ‘best available item.’ When ordering one of these items online, you will choose the generic item rather than a certain brand, flavor, or other variety.
The in-store shopper will select an item that best fits the general category you have chosen.
There are a few things you should know about changing your H-E-B Curbside order. If you wish to add an item to your order, you can add up to 20 items up to 4 hours before your pickup time. On the other hand, you can only remove items 24 hours or more before your pickup time.
H-E-B Curbside orders can be canceled if they are still pending. You will see the option to cancel an H-E-B Curbside order in the ‘Order Status’ section of the website or the “Order History” section of the app.
You can also adjust the date and time of your H-E-B Curbside pickup. However, you have to directly contact the store with the contact information provided in your confirmation email to adjust the pickup time.
Finally, if you miss your H-E-B Curbside pickup time, your order will be held until the end of the day. So you can still pick up your order if you come later that day.
There is no penalty for a late Curbside pickup. If you cannot come to H-E-B at any time on your scheduled day, then your shopper will call you to figure out a new time to pick up your order.

How to Order From H-E-B Online
H-E-B Online orders can be placed on the My H-E-B app or the website. You need an H-E-B account to order. Then, you can add your groceries to your cart, select a pickup date and time, and receive your groceries without the hassle of shopping in the store. Ordering online also makes it easy to apply coupons to your order.
Here are the steps to order from H-E-B Online with the My H-E-B app:
1. First, log in or create an account with H-E-B.
2. Choose your local H-E-B to order from, and make sure that your app is set to shop for Curbside service (indicated at the top of the main screen).
3. Select ‘Shop’ on the app to browse through the different departments. You can also search for specific items using the search bar at the top of the screen.
4. Add items to your cart, and adjust the amounts as needed. Some items have coupons, and you need to click ‘Clip Coupon’ to apply to your order.
5. Go to your Cart by clicking the shopping cart icon in the bottom right corner. Choose a pickup time. You can also indicate if you want to allow substitutions for each item, and you can leave instructions for your shopper.
6. Continue to Checkout and complete the order. You may need to enter your phone number and payment information if you haven’t already.
Shopping on the website is very similar to using the My H-E-B app. You can shop by department, add items to your cart, and checkout by following similar steps on the website.
One key difference between the app and the website is how you filter the items. On the app, you will see an icon to filter items once you have selected a specific category within a department (i.e., fruit, seafood, bread, etc.).
On the H-E-B website, the filters are located on the left-hand side of the screen.

How Much Does H-E-B Curbside Cost?
H-E-B Curbside is free for most orders placed more than a day in advance; however, there is a $4.95 fee for same-day pickup. H-E-B Curbside also has a 3% extra charge for some items to cover the cost of personal shopping, and some orders under $35 have an extra personal shopper fee. All costs are shown at checkout.
There is no guarantee that your H-E-B Curbside service will be free. For example, certain locations may include a personal shopper fee in the order total. In addition, the prices of specific items online may also be different than the prices in-store.
Usually, these extra fees associated with curbside pickup help pay for the personal shopping service.
How Long Does H-E-B Curbside Take?
H-E-B Curbside takes only a few minutes once you arrive at the store. Since you schedule the pickup ahead of time, your groceries will be ready to go in your car as soon as you arrive. You will also get text and email notifications when your order is ready. Note that H-E-B curbside pickup windows are in half-hour increments.
Customers can schedule their H-E-B Curbside orders up to a week in advance. You should try to arrive at your local store at your designated time.
But if you miss your pickup time, H-E-B will hold your groceries until the end of the day. Your shopper will reach out to you if you need to reschedule your pickup.

Can You Use Coupons for H-E-B Curbside?
Only digital coupons are accepted for H-E-B Curbside. They are found under ‘Coupons’ on the app or website and displayed with each item while shopping. You must clip a coupon for it to be applied to your order. Coupons will expire, and each expiration date is listed below the coupon’s description.
You can sign up for digital coupon text alerts to get special offers on select items. To sign up for these texts, log in to your digital coupon account on the My H-E-B app or the website.
After signing up, you will need to respond to a verification text. Then, you will be ready to receive exclusive discounts that can be used with your H-E-B curbside orders.

Does H-E-B Curbside Take EBT?
H-E-B Curbside accepts EBT as a payment method for your pickup order. When you check out, you can indicate how much you would like charged to your EBT card. You will also need a different payment method added to your account to pay for any non-SNAP-eligible items or fees. H-E-B Curbside does not accept WIC benefits.
In addition to the EBT card, H-E-B Curbside accepts credit cards, debit cards, or H-E-B gift cards.
These additional payment methods can be used to pay for the personal shopper fee, add-on items, and items ineligible for SNAP.
When you pay for your H-E-B Curbside order with the EBT card, you will be charged 10% extra for weighted items, like fruits and vegetables.
This additional charge is applied to H-E-B Curbside orders to ensure you have enough funds for items that could weigh and cost a little more than originally intended.
If your final bill costs less than what you originally paid, a refund for the difference will be placed back on the EBT card.

Do You Tip H-E-B Curbside?
You do not need to tip employees who bring out H-E-B Curbside orders. The H-E-B website indicates that tipping is discouraged. This is likely because the personal shopper who spends a lot of time fulfilling the order may not be the same person that brings the order out to your car, thus creating an unfair advantage.
H-E-B Curbside and H-E-B Delivery are quite different with regard to tipping. You are not encouraged to tip for H-E-B Curbside because it is considered a regular or standard service at the store.
However, you can tip for H-E-B Delivery to support the drivers who bring the groceries to your door.
