Welcome to our new series of Marvel Snap guides, where we feature a Series 4 or 5 card and analyze how to use it. The goal is to give you a tutorial on how to use the card most effectively in an everchanging meta, as well as help you decide if the card is worth the tokens or if you should pick it up during a Spotlight Cache week!
We will aim to revise this guide each time it becomes featured in a Spotlight Cache. If the card becomes rebalanced or the meta has changed a lot, please let us know in the comments and we will look to update it based on demand!

Spotlight Cache Week of June 11, 2024: Are Sersi, The Phoenix Force, and Miek Worth It?
Who is Miek?
Miek is an insectoid from the planet Skaar. After surviving a near extinction from the Red King’s rule, Miek hid for survival for some time. Once Hulk and Caiera launched an attack to overthrow the Red King, Miek was rescued and joined the effort to overthrow the king! After their success, Miek would return to earth with Hulk.
In the MCU, Miek can makes his first appearance in Thor Ragnarok, and again in Love and Thunder and Endgame. While not a major character and appearing to follow a different origin, he still offers a fun cameo for fans who recognize him.
How to Use
Miek is a discard payoff tool. It doesn’t give you any assistance in accomplishing discarding goals, but rather he offers extra points and movement for each discard made (while in play). His best usage is early game to maximize value. Late game, he is often a dead card as it’s hard to raise his Power enough to make him worth playing.
His biggest advantage over a card like Morbius is his movement. Being able to choose where he moves each turn gives discard decks the ability to reach restricted locations, or protect space-limited locations.
Best Synergies
MODOK is a great tool with Miek as it offers a rapid way to gain him Power. You can even play Miek and MODOK together on turn 6 for a surprise explosion of Power!

On Reveal: Discard your hand.

Since his Power can move, Miek also works great with Proxima Midnight! Since her ability sends her to your lowest Power location, Miek can be used to stage your locations in a way that sends her directly where you want her!
Proxima Midnight
When this is discarded, jumps to your lowest-Power location. (that isn’t full)

Since Miek only grows and moves with discards, ensuring you have plenty of discard ammo is necessary. Apocalypse and Swarm are easy, go-to targets that replace themselves. Helicarrier gives you a bunch of targets to discard, which also can be advantageous for Miek.

When you discard this, put it back with +4 Power.

This Dracula Apocalypse deck aims to maximize discard synergies. Using literally every synergy Miek has, this deck aims to gain Power from Miek, The Collector, Morbius, and Dracula by discarding repeating targets. MODOK can help to hit every target in your hand for both Power boosts and ensuring everything gets maximum benefits. If you don’t own Corvus Glaive, substitute him with Lady Sif!

What’s better than discarding your cards? Discarding your opponent’s cards! Using Swarm, Stature, and Daken’s Muramasa Shard, you try to flood the board on the last turns with aa much value as possible. Silver Samurai and Black Bolt offer disruption to your opponent and maximize your value!
Weaknesses and Things to Avoid
As a 1-Cost, Miek is vulnerable to Killmonger. Discard decks often don’t run protection cards like Armor or Caiera, so Miek is much more likely to be destroyed.
Killmonger
On Reveal: Destroy ALL 1-Cost cards.

While Miek likely won’t hit 10+ Power to be vulnerable to Shang-Chi, he is plenty vulnerable to Shadow King.

On Reveal: Set all cards here to their base Power.

Closing Thoughts
Miek can be a super fun option for discard players. If drawn early, he can offer unmatched stats for his cost, and his movement can be invaluable in some matchups. His only current weakness in the meta is being outshined by stronger discard decks (Hela) or being too inconsistent as a deck versus the metals top performers. At only a 3k cost though, I think he is worth the tokens if you enjoy the archetype. He isn’t, however, required for a good deck.
Is Miek worth using 3K Collector’s Tokens?
