A suspected drug addict st2bbed his 61 year old grandmother in the neck with a knife after she refused to give him money to buy narcotics.
The incident occurred at their home in Mountview - KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa on Sunday afternoon, April 6, 2025.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the property at approximately 16:21.
On arrival, Reaction Officers found the injured female at the back of the bakkie. A scarf was bound around her neck to control the bleeding from a stab wound. Her clothes were blood soaked.
“It was alleged that the female was attacked by her 22-year-old grandson who is a drug addict. He allegedly demanded money to purchase narcotics,” RUSA stated.
"He grabbed a knife, dragged her out of the house and down an embankment before he st@bbed her next to a stream after she declined to hand over the finance.
"He left her for d3ad and fled in an unknown direction. Neighbours went to her aid after they heard her calling out for assistance.
"They provided First Aid and expedited her privately to hospital. It was alleged that the suspect had previously attacked the woman.
“Reaction Officers were provided a description of the attacker, but no arrests were made during an extensive search that was conducted.”
